Things to keep in mind
From high altitude to transportation considerations, browse the below information to make sure you’re prepared for your visit.
A Word About the Altitude
Reno is located at 4,500 ft. above sea level. Lake Tahoe is at 6,200 ft. It’s very important to stay hydrated, as dehydration can occur easily and swiftly. Water stations will be provided at the symposium—but, if you venture out, be prepared. Keep in mind that altitude can affect your sleep and you may also feel light headed and/or get winded easier when working out. Water and water bottles will be supplied at the symposium.
The weather in Reno is typically in the 90s during the daytime, dropping to about 60 at night. The humidity is very low—often well below 20%. If you’re prone to dry skin, bring moisturizer, chapstick, and hand lotions. Dress for warm weather during the day, but bring along a light jacket for night. If you’re planning on heading up to Tahoe, you’ll definitely want a jacket for when the sun goes down.
